Because we're not just a society for gay people.
Yea, but I was referring more to the gay community as a whole rather than just Pride.

My point still stands, I wouldn't allow them do what they don't allow me to do. I care too much about it to be able to rise above them :/

Because we're not just a society for gay people.

And because we're better than them.

You say that, however there has been a cancer in DV8 for a very long time that has been destroying it, and making it unsafe,

we went as Pride earlier in the year, and it was overwhelmingly straight, where pretty much every person was straight... and many people didn't feel comfortable.
I see Ruth's point but yep--this is pretty accurate. We'd be enraged if asked to stop but hey, we're used to it right? Why should we undertake the "live and let live" policy when homophobia doesn't allow us to do what we want in public eg. holding hands with the person we love? Of course, it's the most mature way to go about it. But homophobia isn't exactly a rational concept. The problem needs to be attacked from a different angle I think.

I know this is all very 2006, but Pride really shouldn't be going to a venue that has that kind of attitude.
Also is sure to cause problems for trans people having to out themselves to kiss someone of the same gender if they're not passing? o_O Seems very odd for a gay club?

Niki oh yeah... forgot about that! :P still can't believe the gobshite told YOU! :P

incidentally DV8 was pants on sat. no cheesy music, drinks were crap and they ran out of my fave at 12.30am. i rang up to see about membership and they said they don't let straight guys in and furthermore if a guy n girl are kissin, they'll be asked to stop. this is fair enough but if a 2 same sex people kiss in a 'straight' bar, then we'd be outraged to be asked to stop!
