Coming to university can be daunting, especially as a queer student. Here we have compiled a list of resources we think would be useful for helping you here at university
Societies and Other Queer Communities
Many societies here on campus are LGBTQUIA+ friendly. If you are unsure, ask around!
Warwick Pride (that’s us!) – Warwick Pride (warwicksu.com)
Pride is all about community, coming together to support each other and have fun! We run a mixture of events, including various socials, welfare events and campaigns throughout the year.

There are queer communities that exist outside of societies, and even outside of uni:
- Cov Outspoke – ‘Coventry OutSpoke is Coventry’s queer collective, working to strengthen the city’s LGBT+ community with the aim of increasing our visibility and raising our collective voices by leading the change and having fun.’ They run LGBT picnics where you can meet other members of the community – Coventry OutSpoke (@covoutspoke) • Instagram photos and videos
- Cov Queer Writers – a monthly group for queer writers, running sessions in St Mary’s Guildhall, Coventry City Centre – @covqueerwriters • Instagram photos and videos
- The Yard – LGBTQ+ venue in Coventry with club nights and performances. Pride often goes there for karaoke 🙂 – About – The Yard Coventry
How to Change Your Email
- Contact helpdesk@warwick.ac.uk to request a change
- Your old email will still exist, but they will all be forwarded to your new email
How to Change Your Name
- Sign in to Student Records Online
- Navigate to “My Data” (second along blue bar at top)
- Scroll down to “Edit my personal data”
- To edit your preferred name, the name that will be used in informal communications sent to you by the University, navigate to “Edit my Preferred Name”- this will not require official legal documentation such as a passport or a deed poll, and can be changed at any time
- To edit your official name, the name that will appear on your official documentation such as your degree, navigate to “Request change to record held for name and title” and follow the instructions there- this will require official legal documentation as evidence.
